Gary Mitchell

JEROME - Gary Glenn Mitchell, 76, died Friday September 4th, 2015 of natural causes. He was the son of Vern Delmar Mitchell and Pearl Ames Mitchell. Born January 5th, 1939 in Burley, ID. He attended school in Burley, Caldwell and Twin Falls, ID. Graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1957, He went on to graduate from Idaho State University in 1967 with a Bachelors in Business.

Gary and Jeanette met on a blind date in 1957, married in 1958 and started their family in 1959. They moved back and forth between California and Idaho. Gary and his wife, son and daughter lived and worked in California for many years before buying 40 acres in Jerome Idaho, moving back to settle there in 1977. After leaving the corporate world, Gary spent his time learning animal husbandry raising a menagerie of animals. He loved animals and always had house pets. He enjoyed woodworking and spent much of his time turning the old farm house into a beautiful home, living there the past 38 years.

Gary worked for the Idaho Lottery Commission for ten years, as one of their best salesmen. He had a knack for treating his customers like members of the family. After retiring from the lottery in 2001, Gary and his wife Jeanette traveled the world, sometimes joining other family members exploring exciting places like China and Easter Island. They traveled to 78 different countries before Jeanettes death in 2013.

He is survived by his sister Ardis Gonzales, and brothers Larry Mitchell (Jane), and Vern Mitchell Jr. (Gloria). Son Dennis Mitchell (Tana) and daughter Jeanie Clemmer-Rodriguez (Macho), four grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 55 years Jeanette Mitchell.

At his request, there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be held Saturday the 26th of September 1-4pm at the family farm. Bring your favorite side dishes, Garys favorite meal of hamburgers will be provided. Please be ready to share your favorite memories of Gary with his family.
