Jerome- William Roy "Bill" Hill, 81, of Jerome, passed away Saturday November 12, 2016, in Twin Falls. He was born November 20, 1934, in Jerome, Idaho, the son of Burton and Lorene Hill. Bill was raised in Hansen and attended schools there. He married Virginia Peterson on May 23, 1954, in the Hansen Methodist Church. Shortly after their marriage, Bill served his country in the United States Army Occupation Force in Korea. Following an Honorable Discharge, he returned home to Idaho where he and Virginia ranched and farmed near Murtaugh. In 1967, they purchased the Windy Glen ranch in Jerome where they settled in and raised their family. Bill was very active in the community and served as Grange Master for the Sugar Loaf Grange for many years. He also participated in his son Dave's Boy Scout Troop, was Drill Master of the Twin Falls Junior Riding club where his daughter Lisa was a member and also served on the Highway Board of Good Roads highway district. In 1980, he and Virginia sold the ranch and retired on 40 acres. Bill enjoyed going to his grandson Garrett's soccer games and all of the school programs of his grandkids. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Jerome.
Bill is survived by his sweetheart of over 62 years, Virginia; their children, David Hill of Hansen, Laura (Stan) Novak of Twin Falls and Lisa (Erik) Partin of Filer; his granddaughters, Amanda, Kendra and Jessica (Joe); his grandson, Garrett; three great-grandsons, Odin, Torin and Dalton; two brothers, Norman (Beth) Hill and Jerry (Joann) Hill; his sister, Karen (Merv) Mueller; and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, John, brothers, Kenneth, Ronny and Dale; and sisters, Frances, Norma and Linda.
A visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 17, 2016, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. , Friday November 18, 2016, in the First Christian Church, 279 East Avenue B, Jerome, with Pastor John Marshall officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Twin Falls.
