Una Wayne Martin

BOISE

Una Wayne (McLeod) Martin passed away April 14, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old.

Una was born in Scurry County, Texas on October 4, 1929. She was the 2nd oldest of 5 children, growing up on a small farm with no electricity or indoor plumbing, but with a lot of family fun and love. Her early school days were inside a one or two room schoolhouse with multiple grades being taught and a teacher roaming the room with a ruler in hand. She graduated from Lockney High School at the age of 16, then went on to Business College. This is where she met Lewis Martin. The two were married in 1947. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1948, when Lewis started his career with the railroad. Their family of 3 daughters were all born in Denver.

Una worked for the telephone company before the family moved to Idaho in 1965. She worked for the Boise School District (Administration Office and Borah High School) for 7 years, the Biblical Studies Center for 11 years and the Church of Christ for 7 years. She was active with the teen group at the Church of Christ for many years, held meetings in her home for young singles and taught ladies Bible class for the last 7 years. She volunteered as Treasurer for Right to Life for 17 years as well as Treasurer for the American Heritage Girls for 2 years. Over the last decade she has been involved in many different social groups, playing games and being part of a book club. Thursdays were a time for her 3 daughters to join her for lunch, games and a lot of laughter. These special times will be missed by all.

She was an enormous inspiration to our family as well as her many life-long friends. Her home was always a place of welcome and peace. She lived her life with love and kindness. If she saw a need, she reached out and filled that need. She kept our family close and connected through the years and was a support to each one of us. We cherish our years with her and value the lessons we learned along the way.

Una is survived by her 3 daughters, Gail Smyth (Alan), Nancy Kilpatrick (Stan) and Patty Hamon (Mike); her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews who stayed close with her over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lewis Martin; her parents, Frank and Rosa McLeod; her sister, Lois Bowley; her 3 brothers, Dwayne McLeod, Bob McLeod and Glenn McLeod and a grandson, Andy Kilpatrick.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Church of Christ, 2000 N Eldorado St, Boise, Idaho 83704.

Memorial donations may be in her name to The Biblical Studies Center, 1025 Belmont St., Bose, ID 83706.
