Steve Eugene Standlee, 72, of Jerome, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Steve was born May 9, 1944 to William Hugo and Louisa Larios Standlee. He was the youngest of four siblings; Charolette (Bill) Kestle, Wayne (Tudy) Standlee, and Patricia Robinson. Steve attended Jerome High School. He married Paula (Wiswell) in 1963 and together they had Sherri, Paul, and Susan. They divorced in 1976. On March 4, 1982, he married, Marlene M. McIntosh. He cared for his wife, Marlene, until her passing on November 24, 2016.
Steve worked construction. He also was a long-haul truck driver with May Trucking and worked throughout the west in the states of Montana, Colorado, and Utah. Steve retired in 1999.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman. He was a true animal lover and had two turtles, two love birds, two parakeets, a cat, and a dog. He enjoyed woodworking.
In later years, Steve was a patient and quiet man. In relationship with others, patience was a form of kindness. Sherri described him as “the best”.
Steve made a difference and saved many lives as he was an avid blood donor through the American Red Cross. He gave 14 pints (almost two gallons) in blood donations.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Standlee; parents; and siblings.
Steve is survived by his three children, Sherri Elson of Twin Falls, Idaho; Paul (Christine) Standlee of Jerome, Idaho; and Susan (Mike) Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho. Steve also is survived by grandchildren, Michael Brown, Christopher (Jessica) Brown and great granddaughter, Adria Brown.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Jerome Cemetery.
