Sonja Jeanne Larson

May 27, 1948 — December 22, 2024

TWIN FALLS

Sonja was born on May 27, 1948 to Clayton Marcus Gulbranson and Joan Ardith Olson in Denver, Colorado and passed away suddenly at her home in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 22, 2024.

Sonja spent most of her school years in Twin Falls, Idaho before graduating from Soda Springs High School. She graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in microbiology. She spent most of her working career as a medical technologist while spending as much time as she could in the micro department. Sonja also loved the several years she spent working at the fertility clinic in Eugene, Oregon.

She married Gary Larson on November 21, 1986 in Elko, Nevada. Sonja loved to work outside in her garden and tend to her flowers. She and Gary shared a house on the North Umpqua River in Roseburg, Oregon for many years. She loved the river, and it became a source of comfort and joy for her.

During Sonja's earliest childhood, she was cared for by her paternal grandparents and later by her beloved aunt and uncle, Ray and Lil Gulbranson. As the oldest of eight children, she was entrusted with the care of her younger siblings while both parents worked. She had many interesting stories of this time of her life. She loved them all dearly.

Sonja was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and one sister, Linda Delaney.

Sonja is survived by her husband, Gary Larson of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter, Holly Damico of Lafayette, Louisiana; son, Taff Woolsey of Port Orchard, Washington; three brothers, Steve Gulbranson (Peggy) of Rupert, Idaho; Tim Gulbranson of Billings, Montana; and Rocky Gulbranson of Rupert, Idaho; and three sisters, Camie Harriman (Jerry) of Rochester, New Hampshire; Carleen Bowers (Trey) of Monument, Colorado; and Penny Wermer (Joe) of Durango, Colorado.

A Celebration of Sonja's life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Mountain View Barn, 392 E 300 S, Jerome, Idaho.

Sonja was a beacon of light for her family and will be sorely missed. Until we meet again, sweet girl.
