Sharon Kennison

Wendell- Sharon "Kay" Kennison, 75, of Wendell passed away Tuesday June 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She is finally at home with her twin sister "Fay".

Kay was born to Bert and Marjorie Carroll on July 11, 1939 in Filer, Idaho.  At five years old Kay and her family moved to Appleton City,  Missouri.  She later moved back to Jerome and graduated from Jerome High School in 1957.  She enjoyed working in the "spuds" for Kenny Martin and at the Honey House.  She owned the Northern Tavern Bar for many years and knew just about everybody in town.  She later moved to Wendell and began working at Simerly's.  It wasn't as though she was hired, she just showed up and started working.  She worked hard throughout her life and wanted to be kept busy.  She remained at Simerly's until her death and said it was her favorite job.  After all, she practically ran the show.

Kay had two daughters; Shawna & Travis  Atwood and Michelle Wheeler & Fiancé Ron Golnick.  She is survived by them as well as their children Danielle, Michaela, Nichole,  Stefan and Nick.  She is also survived by 5 great-grand children, Kenadi, Parker, Mace, Jayla, and Jayden. She has always been a second mother to Jerri Stone, Tracie Stone and Paula Simerly, especially after her twin sister, Fay, died in 2012.  Kay was also survived by her brother, Don Carroll of Denver, Colo. and her baby sister, Roberta Carroll of Big Fork, Mont.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Fay.

Kay spent her days at Simerly's or having an "Oly" at the Stockman's.  Evenings were spent at home on her deck with her daughter Shawna and husband Travis.  Kay had too many friends to count.  In the final days of cancer, she finally confessed, "I may have to quit my job".  She worked all her life and worked hard.  We all loved her and our days will be forever empty without her there to talk to.

A visitation will be held this evening, Friday June 12, 2015, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday June 13, 2015, also at Farnsworth Mortuary,  with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Wendell Cemetery.
