Russell Harley Pate, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024. Russell was the son of Harley and Irene (Crawford) Pate.
Russell led a long and happy life. After graduating Richfield High School at age 16, he enlisted in the Navy. He served 3 years and, as a proud veteran, had many great stories to share.
In 1955, Russell married Ada Rosanell “Rosie” Baugh and together they built a life in Fairfield where he worked as an office manager for the ASCS for 33 years. After retirement, Russell started farming and spent more time on the ranch. His happiest days were spent riding his horse “Rocky” and working cattle.
Russell is most remembered as a family man. Together 49 years, he and Rosie raised 4 daughters, Kelly, Cindy, Krissi and Korri; and 11 grandchildren. He took great joy being involved in both his children, and later his grandchildren’s lives. He was their number one fan and never missed a school event or performance. His love for sports had him traveling to all of their games, volunteering, watching practices and hosting team dinners.
Later in life, Russell found love again. He reunited with his high school sweetheart, Melba Burgess, and they spent 8 wonderful years together before she passed away.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Irene Pate; siblings, Jim Pate and Shirley Stackle; wife, Rosie Pate; daughter, Korri Blodgett; son-in-law, Jerry Gibbons; grandson, Dusty Blodgett; and great grandson, Gannon Gibbons.
He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Gibbons, Cindy (Jack) Altemose, and Krissi (Mark) Hansen; and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
