Jerome- Roy M. Hopper, 89, of Jerome, passed away Saturday March 14, 2015, at his home. He was born September 22, 1925, in Liberal, Missouri, the son of Charles Otis Hopper and Vera Velma Hatfield Hopper. He came to Idaho, a newborn infant in his mother's arms, by train and settled in the Magic Valley. He attended schools at Appleton in Jerome and in Wendell, and when the family moved to Jerome, he decide to enlist in the US Navy. He served in World War II, and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. Roy's working life was varied and eclectic. He worked construction, dairy farmed, gold mined, sold cars and managed a plumbing supply shop. Roy also worked as a Wal-Mart greeter. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1972, and later served as Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of Idaho.
Roy is survived by wife Tamra, daughter Helen Noakes (Kenneth) of Jerome, step-daughters Shawna Robertson(Kenneth) and Sherry Fischer both of Reno Nevada; Son Scott of Pasco, Washington; son Jim Stauffer of New Meadows; nine grandchildren, five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters and two sons, his only brother and two sisters.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM , Wednesday March 18, 2015 , in the Jerome LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 50 East 100 South, Jerome. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
