Ronnie Dean Whaley, 65, passed away in the comfort of his home with family by his side on May 2, 2024 in Jerome, Idaho.
Ronnie was born July 1, 1958 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ray Gordon Whaley and Deloris Faye Baughman. He was the oldest of five children and was raised and educated in Buhl, Idaho. Dad learned the value of hard work from a very young age and had a remarkable career as a long-haul truck driver.
He married Kathy Randall on August 7, 1981 and they remained married for twenty - five years. Eight years later they realized a dream of owning their own home and, with their two children, moved to Jerome where they raised their family. Dad continued to live in this same house until the time of his passing.
Outside of work, Ronnie enjoyed spending time with friends and family and tinkering on old pickups and semi trucks. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, live sporting events, concerts, and listening to music. Dad especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle on the open road with his buddies. Perhaps most cherished by Dad was spending quality time with his kids and grandkids. This brought a lot of happiness to his life.
Ronnie will be remembered as a great friend who often put the needs of others before his own. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and would give you the shirt off his back. Dad's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones that can never be filled. We will forever cherish the special memories we have of him and created with him.
Ronnie is survived by his two children whom he loved dearly: David Whaley (Brandi) of Meridian and Amanda Whaley of Twin Falls; three siblings, Connie Griswold of Kimberly, Donnie Whaley (Traci) of Pocatello, and Shawna Welker (Jack Larimore) of Jerome; stepfather, Glen Gubler of Jerome; and five grandchildren whom he adored, Kolby, Lauren, Ryker, Kellen & Knox. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorrie Whaley.
May Dad rest peacefully and his spirit continue to live on in the hearts of those fortunate to have met him.
