Ronald "Ron" Emberton

Jerome - Ronald G. "Ron" Emberton, 81, of Jerome, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday July 26, 2015, surrounded by his family.  He says, "I was born December 14, 1933, in a farmhouse near Milan, Missouri, to a kind and loving Dad and Mom, Herschel Wayne Emberton and Mildred Veda "Millie" Taylor Emberton.  At age 5, I started school in a little country school.  In the 3rd grade, my Dad sold out due to health reasons and we moved to Jerome, Idaho in October of 1940.  I attended schools in Jerome and graduated in 1951, from Jerome High School.  The "Class of 51" was an outstanding group of classmates.  In 1952, I went to work at the Jerome Cooperative Creamery, which later became Ida-Gem Dairymen Inc., hauling 10 gallon milk cans.  After serving over eight years in the Idaho Army National Guard, I joined the Regular Army Infantry.  Following Basic Training and AIT, at Ft. Ord, California, I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  In 1960, following a successful interview, I was appointed to the Post Honor Guard. During a 1960 funeral detail in Knoxville, Tennessee, the good Lord changed my life in the most wonderful way.  I met a beautiful "Southern Belle", named June Yvonne Armstrong.  We were married August 5, 1961, at the Riverside Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.  From that day on, I never knew that life could be so wonderful.  We soon bought a mobile home and had it moved across from Gate Three at Ft. Campbell.  On February 8, 1963, our lives were blessed again when June gave birth in the Ft. Campbell Hospital to a wonderful little girl we named Lisa Yvette Emberton.  Following an Honorable Discharge on March 1, 1963, we returned to Jerome and I went back to work at the Creamery.

On July 25, 1966, our lives were blessed again with the birth of our wonderful little boy, Kevin Ray Emberton.  One of the things that I have learned in my lifetime is that there aren't many greater treasures in life than family and friends.  I consider myself very lucky to have had both.  Thank you Lord!

After Ida-Gem closed their doors in 1977, I continued hauling milk in a tanker truck instead of 10 gallon cans.   Ida-Gem was a great place to work and I missed it immensely.  After a handful of other jobs, I retired from Norco Windows on June 28, 1996, after eight years.

I am survived by my wonderful wife of nearly 54 years, June Y. Armstrong Emberton;  our children, Lisa (Bob) Carson of Tucson and Kevin (Diane) Emberton of Boise;  our grandchildren, Tim Carson, Jon Carson, Mikayla Emberton;  also, Brittaney Madron, Sydney Durk and Logan Durk, who joined our family through Kevin's marriage."

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening, July 29, 2015, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday July 30, 2015, also at Farnsworth Mortuary, with Pastor Gene Kissinger officiating.  A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Interment with military honors will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.  Ron's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his name to:  Jerome Freewill Baptist Church, 810 South Cleveland, Jerome, ID 83338.
