TWIN FALLS - Ronald K. “Ron” Draper, 84, of Twin Falls and formerly of Jerome, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 8, 1930, in Paul, Idaho, the son of Wallace L. Draper and Loyolla Munsee Draper. Ron was raised in Paul and attended schools there. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he married Barbara Dudley. They settled in Jerome, where they raised five children. Ron spent most of his working life as a butcher and owned and operated the Olde Time Meat Shoppe until retiring in 1992. He loved raising cattle, and he also enjoyed teaching and watching his grandchildren ride horses. He even built them an arena to ride in.
After Barbara’s passing, he married Carolyn Perkel and they made their home in Twin Falls. Ron was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his family, was easy to make friends and never knew a stranger.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carolyn Draper of Twin Falls; his children, Ron (Tami) Draper of Meridian, Crystal (Bill) Greene of Twin Falls, Kevin (Wendy) Draper of Meridian and Ronda (Todd) Critser, also of Meridian. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Pickering and Betty (David) Barrett; one brother, Lyle (Julie) Draper; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Draper; and their son, Dan Draper; one sister, Donna; and two brothers, Dewey and Rex.
A visitation will be held Monday evening, Jan. 19, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln in Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Jerome LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 50 E. Nez Perce in Jerome, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
