Richard D. Allen

Jerome- Dr. Richard D. "Rick" Allen, 59, of Jerome, passed away Monday February 9, 2015, in Twin Falls of heart failure. Rick was born October 17, 1955, in Bountiful, Utah, the younger of two sons to Louis B. Allen and Betsy Ruth Herrin Allen. Rick was raised in Evergreen, Colorado graduating in 1973 from Evergreen High School. His love and passion for animals lead him to Colorado State University where he earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in May 1982.

Rick married the love of his life, Mary Remillard, May 29, 1982 in Evergreen Colorado. Together, they made their home in Jerome and raised their two sons, Derrick & Keenan. Rick took over the Jerome Veterinary Hospital where he spent many successful years building his practice.

Rick had many passions in life, his family being the most important.  Rick and Mary supported both of their sons in scouts, baseball, and wrestling to name a few. Rick was also known for his incredible sourdough breads and gourmet cooking.

Rick was an avid fly fisherman, and loved fishing the Madison River with his brother, Chip. His desire for fly-fishing was also shared with his best friend, Dexter Ball. Together they served and supported the Magic Valley Flyfishers’ Club.

On behalf of the Allen family, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Jerome and Twin Falls First Responders who tried valiantly to keep Rick in our lives. Thanks to Dr. Kevin Krall and his team for their efforts and compassion.

Rick is survived by his wife, Mary Allen of Jerome; their sons, Derrick Allen of Spokane and Keenan Allen of Moscow; his brother Chip Allen of Evergreen; his beloved cat CT and many extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Monday February 16, 2015 , at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 216 2nd Avenue East, Jerome.  Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
