Richard Gary Burnham

Gary Burnham, 81, of Jerome, Idaho died September 8, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family.  

Gary was born December 11, 1941, to Lynn & Ruth Ostler Burnham where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of serving others.

He found his eternal companion, Jane Archibald Burnham, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on September 1, 1972. His family and six children are his greatest treasure; Greg (Katie) Burnham, Janice (Alan) Bakes, Tom (Emilee) Burnham, Cindy (Mark) Current, Clay (Candis) Burnham, and Tyler (Abby) Burnham.

Gary was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in England and held many positions in the church to help people come to Christ. He loved working with kids of all ages, especially in the scouting program. 

He was given the Silver Beaver Award for his 35 years of service in the Boy Scouts of America. He especially loved being a Cubmaster where he could get even the rowdiest of boys to sit in awe waiting for the Gary Burnham entertainment to begin. 

Gary worked as an electrician for the Jerome School District for 23 years, he also did electrical work for friends and family.

As his family grew, so did his love of sharing the gift of music with them.  There was never a shortage of guitar playing, which included country music, church music, and campfire songs when the family was together. Gary spent his retired years singing and playing guitar with his group named Rim Rock. They regularly played at assisted living homes in Jerome and Twin Falls (Creekside Care Center, Bridgeview Estates, Brookdale, Heritage Assisted Living, and DeVon Assisted Living).

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leslie and David.

He is survived by his wife; children; and 4 brothers, Keenan (Lavisa), Bob (Lorna), Perry (Rita), and Dennis (Janie); his sister, Larene (Roger) Morley; and sister-in-law, Jennie Ann. He Loved his 15 grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, September 15, 2023, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerome Stake Center, 26 N Tiger Drive, Jerome. The funeral service will be livestreamed via Farnsworth Mortuary Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/hometownmortuary.  Grave dedication will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery.
