Rex Gardner

Rex O Gardner, 83, of Kimberly and formerly of Hazelton, passed away Friday , June. 26, 2015, in Twin Falls. He was born on June 26, 1932, in Rigby, Idaho, the son of Jacob Obed Gardner and Mary Irene Hansen Gardner.  Rex was raised in Geneva and Hazelton, Idaho and graduated from Hazelton High School in 1950. He then attended Ricks College, Utah State and Fresno State. He served a 2 ½ year mission in Uruguay, followed by 2 years of service in the Army during which time he was stationed in Fort Ord, California and in Germany. He married Leah Stanger on July 6, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Hazelton, where they raised seven children. He enjoyed farming, driving the beet truck and he never met anyone he didn’t like. He loved people and made friends wherever he went. He was a devoted father and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is preceded in death by his loving wife and parents. He is survived by his brothers Lynn and Reid, his 7 children and their spouses, Bruce and Kathy, Dan and Tracey, Brenda and Matt Udy, Ben and Tammy, Blake and Wendy, James and Yvonne and Steven and Monica; also by 41 grandchildren, 27 great-­grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, June 30 , from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kimberly LDS Church at 222 Birch St. S, Kimberly, Idaho. The funeral will be held at the same location on Wednesday, July 1st with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation 1 hour before. The funeral will be conducted by Bishop Jared Walker. Interment will follow in the Hazelton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
