Randall M. Rector departed this earthly world unexpectedly on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at his home in Jerome, Idaho. Randall was born to Duane "Max" and Lillian Rector on December 6, 1954 in Twin Falls, Idaho.
As a child, Randall attended Clover Lutheran school and then graduated from Castleford High School. Later, he went on to college, and graduated from Lewis & Clark State College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree. He valued education and was proud that he was able to obtain his degree while working full time.
Randall was raised on the family dairy and farm, learning the value of hard work from an early age. As he got older, he worked on the farm with his father and brother. After moving to Jerome in 1993, he was employed at Automated Dairy Systems. He later changed companies and at the time of his passing, he was employed at Thatcher Company out of Salt Lake City.
Randall married his wife Helen in 1993 in Elko, Nevada. He met his wife Helen when he was in the hospital after getting sat on by a horse not once, but twice. Helen was his nurse in the ICU. With this union he inherited 2 stepdaughters; Gina and Kim. Some of his proudest moments came from the achievements of the grandkids that came in the following years.
Randall had a love for the outdoors. He was president of the High Desert Pointing Dog Club. He had also been a member in Ducks Unlimited, National Elk Foundation, and the Mule Deer Foundation.
His hobbies included everything hunting related. He also enjoyed fishing but enjoyed it more when it was with the grandkids and taking them to his favorite spots. He also enjoyed helping his granddaughters Lizzy and Becky with their 4-H projects over the years, especially the big steer projects. He enjoyed the times during the summer that the grandkids came to visit. He had a special bond with his granddaughter Becky because her sarcasm and wit could match his. He would take the grandkids for rides on the 4-wheeler, saddle up Hannah (the kid safe and favorite horse), or watch them on the horse swing that he made out of the gas powered hot walker.
Some random facts about Randall is he always ate dinner at 6pm. In the evening, he enjoyed watching his western shows to relax at the end of the day. He loved and took great care of his hunting dogs but he also loved his feline companions (Homer and Buddy), although he might not have openly admitted it. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Randall is preceded in death by his mother Lillian, father Max and his grandparents.
Randall is survived by his wife of 31 years, Helen Rector, his brother Larry Rector, his nephews, Logan and Loren, a sister Linda McFaddan and his nieces Mellissa and her daughter Kaitlyn Wyngaart. He is also survived by his stepdaughters Gina (Mychael) Benson-Haywood and Kim (Randy) Tolman, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
