Mona Jeanne Watkins

Mona Jeanne Watkins was born November 30, 1931, to Dewey Carter Warner and Rosa Rel Hickox-Warner. She passed away peacefully in her granddaughters’ home surrounded by loved ones, December 3, 2023. 

Don and Mona were married on April 18, 1951, in Buhl, Idaho, and had three sons. Mona loved cooking, sewing, and gardening as a few of her hobbies. She loved Jesus and sharing his word with everyone she encountered. She and Don enjoyed camping and family time in their retired years. She also loved to play cards, and playing skip-bo with family was one of the fondest memories many of her grandkids share with her. 

In her final days she expressed that she was not scared, but instead excited because she knew that soon she would once again be reunited with her husband, Don; as well as her mother, father; and four sisters, Josephine Edna Warner-Owen, Bernice Hazel Warner-Hatfield, Dorothy Ellen Warner-Sayer, and Jeralee Owen Warner; and she would finally get to meet Jesus.

She is lovingly remembered by her three sons and one daughter-in-law, Dan, Tim, Brad & Jennie. Her adoring grandchildren are Deserae, Shawn, Jamie, Dustin, Buddy, and Cody; and her honorary grandchildren, Sarah, Lance, Bambi, Kendell, Patricia, and Ashley. In addition to being Nana to those listed, she was a proud great-grandmother of 10, and recently a great-great-grandmother of one. She will be missed by many and has left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, December 8, 2023, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Funeral service for Mona will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Magic Valley Baptist Church, 400 9^th Ave N, Buhl, with Pastor Clarence Knutson officiating. Graveside service will conclude at West End Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.  All who knew Mona are encouraged to join the family in celebrating her life.

Pallbearers will be Dan Watkins, Brad Watkins, Tim Watkins, Dustin Watkins, James Watkins, Cody Watkins, Alex Watkins and Kaydon McCormick. Honorary pallbearer, Shawn Watkins.
