Michael Joseph Thompson

Michael Joseph Thompson, 40, of Shoshone, Idaho passed away August 19, 2023. He was born June 25, 1983 on Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, to Brenda Leanne Lortz of Wyoming. After graduating from Twin Falls High School, May 2002, he married the love of his life, Sheila Lee, June, 6, 2002 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Mike served in the United States Army as an M249 SAW gunner at the 2nd battalion 503^rd Infantry regiment out of Vincenza, Italy from 2003 to 2005. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (March 26, 2003) and Operation Enduring Freedom.

After returning home to Twin Falls, Idaho with his family, he went to CSI to obtain his Associates of Applied Science in Law Enforcement. After graduating, he began working for the City of Shoshone Police Department. He resided in Shoshone, Idaho with his wife and kids.

Mike worked for the Shoshone Police Department from October 2008 until June 2017.  During his time there he earned his Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice, as well as the rank of Sergeant. He was well respected by the community he loved serving.

Mike is a lifetime member of the Pipe Hitters Union, Motorcycle Club (PHUMC), and he was also Vice President of Guardian Paws Service Dogs and Lead Dog trainer with his wife, Sheila.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, and riding his motorcycle with his wife and PHUMC family. Mike was known for having a generous heart and a unique sense of humor.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sheila Thompson; son, Nickeli Thompson (20); daughter, Gabriella Thompson (17); mother, Brenda Thompson; and brother, Brian Thompson.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Jerome Veterans Memorial Park.
