Mary Tyler Thueson, 99, formerly of Jerome, Idaho died Saturday, April 14, 2024 at Spring Creek Assisted Living Meridian, Ada County, Idaho. Mary was born October 26, 1924 on the family farm in Ucon, Bonneville County, Idaho to Andrews and Helen Alice Dodge Tyler. She was raised on the farm where she learned how to work hard and enjoy nature. She was educated in Ucon and was an accomplished musician playing the trumpet. She graduated from Ucon High School in 1942.
She met Constant Walter Thueson at a dance in Ucon and they were married June 15, 1944 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple while he was on furlough. After WWII they moved to Jerome in 1946 where they raised their 6 children.
Mary worked for St. Benedict’s Hospital for several years in the business office. In 1963 Walter and Mary owned and operated Walt’s Texaco until retiring in 1985.
Mary was an active lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, but especially loved serving as Jr. Sunday School Coordinator for 23 years. She loved little children.
Surviving are two sons, Walter DeLoy (Loretta) Thueson, and Robert (Wendy) Thueson; three daughters, Carolyn (Ron) Feik, Sharon Thueson, and Helen (Robert) Stone; daughter-in-law, Tami (Don’s wife) Thueson; 26 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 14 great- great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; an infant son; son, Don; a granddaughter, her parents; as well as three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, with a viewing beginning at Noon, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerome 7th Ward, 100 S 50 E, Jerome. Grave dedication will conclude at Jerome Cemetery.
