My mother, and best friend, Lenore Maudine Lester Bird, 96, of Jerome, Idaho passed away December 4, 2019. She was born August 13, 1923 at Filer, Idaho to Thomas Jefferson Lester and Bertha Dora Bell Lester. She graduated from Hollister High School in 1941 and attended Idaho Southern University at Pocatello.
She taught 5th through 8th grades at the school northeast of Buhl in 1943. Lenore entered war work at the Ogden Arsenal in Ogden, Utah in June 1944. She married Blaine Bird on June 25, 1945 at Ogden, Utah.
Lenore worked at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden from 1950 until 1958, returning to Idaho in 1963.
Lenore had a deep love for all animals, never turning a stray away. Later in life she truly enjoyed the bonds formed in our community with large BBQs and dinners.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine in 2008; and sister, Prudence Lester Markley. She is survived by her daughter, Eva Covey of Jerome; and grandson, Cole Covey.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Lenore’s memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
