Leah Camp

LIFE SKETCH

On July 5, 1933 in Henefer, Utah a baby girl was born to Ralph and Elda Pace. They named her Leah. She grew up mostly in Hoytsville, Utah and attended North Summit High School where she was a cheer leader. She then attended the University of Utah where she also was a cheer leader and majored in physical education. Fitting training for a woman who would become the mother of three athletic sons.

In June of 1954 she met Baxter Camp in Monterey, California where he was serving in the Air Force. They courted through the summer and were married in September of that year in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Air Force took them to San Antonio, Texas and later Riverside, California. Baxter finished military duty in Riverside where he joined IBM. Leah believed in going where her husband’s work took him. This led them from Riverside to Sunland and then Gardena in California. From there to Boulder, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah. And finally they retired to Twin Falls, Idaho where they lived for over 23 years. They left Riverside with three sons; Vaughn, Lowell and Bradford. During this time Leah was busy being a full time excellent mother and wife. Her first attention was always her unselfish attention to her husband and children.

In addition to her family, she also spent time in serving others through church organizations and activities. She was a faithful spectator at all her sons activities and sports. She was a skilled knitter producing multiple sweaters for sons and grandchildren. Including knitting a full length coat for herself. Her skillful needlework resulted in many decorative wall hangings. She loved jig saw puzzles and board games which she played with sons and grandchildren. She had difficulty convincing her husband to join in these activities. She also liked to read. But in later years interest was lost in these things.

Family was her primary interest. She was a warm, smiling, cheerful, compassionate wife and mother. Then in later years grandmother to ten and great grandmother to 40. She had a warm smile for everyone. During the past few months she lost her struggle with dementia which took her from us May 27, 2021.

On behalf of our family we extend heartfelt thanks to those who assisted with her needs. To those companionate and helpful care givers at Serenity Transitional Care, Canyons Retirement Community, Visions Home Health and Encompass Home Hospice we offer our heartfelt gratitude. Baxter is especially grateful to direct and extended family members and close friends for their caring support for Leah and for him. He is so grateful to Leah for raising boys into such outstanding men. They came unbidden to spend countless hours with Baxter and her during the past trying months
