Larry Russell Luper, 74 of Jerome, passed away peacefully with family by his side, October 20, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Twin Falls, from complications of covid. He was born March 22, 1947 at St. Valentine’s Hospital in Wendell, Idaho to Russell and Juanita Luper. Larry was raised on a dairy farm in the Appleton District and graduated from Jerome High School in 1965.
After graduation he served 6 years in the Army Reserves. Upon completion of basic training, he worked at Challenge Creamery and customed farmed. He quit the creamery when he purchased his farm and built the dairy. Upon selling the dairy, he worked as a ditch rider for Northside Canal Company for 30 years and continued farming with his grandson after he retired until now.
He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Brenda Stuhlberg, August 4, 1967. Larry enjoyed trail riding, float tubing, fishing, hunting, making his own jigs and flies, and target shooting with his grandson, Hunter.
In 2017, they purchased a place at Colson Creek in Shoup, Idaho, where he and Brenda spent many hours fishing. Larry never considered anyone a stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone and always offered a helping hand to friends and neighbors.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Russell Luper. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Luper; son, Lance (Tonia) Luper; daughter, Jeanne (Scyler) Hill; grandson, Hunter Hill; mother, Juanita Luper; sister, Patti Luper; brother, Gary (Lila) Luper; and his loyal companion, K.C.
Our family would like to express special appreciation for the loving care that Larry received from the staff at St. Luke's Twin Falls.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Jerome Senior Center, 520 N Lincoln Ave, Jerome, and down River at a later date.
