Kent Gourley

Jerome- Kent L. Gourley, 72, of Jerome, passed away at his home on Sunday June 12, 2016.  He was born November 29, 1943, in Spanish Fork, Utah, the son of Robert Lamar Gourley and Mary Laverne Losee Gourley.  Kent was raised in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School where he was involved in baseball, dance and drama.  He met Susan Friel at the Melody Inn Cafe in Springville, Utah, and following an honorable LDS Mission to the Southern Far East Mission in the Phillipines, they were married March 4, 1966, in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.  They made their home in Springville and eventually settled in Jerome where they raised five children.  Kent spent several years with Big O Tire in Jerome and then moved to Orem, Utah where he worked at Geneva Steel and coached baseball.   He returned to Jerome where he started Wild West Video and the Tiger Stop.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially baseball and was able to coach his sons.

Kent was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and served in a variety of callings.  Mostly he loved being a husband, father and grandfather.  Kent is survived by his sweetheart of more than 50 years, Susan Gourley; their children, Richard (Katya) Gourley of Nampa, Kim (Jim) Huber of Rome, Italy, John (Shannon) Gourley of Kelso, WA, Jeff (Christy) Gourley of Jerome and Bryan (Emily) Gourley of Twin Falls.  He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A visitation will be held Friday June 17, 2016 , at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday June 18, 2016 , in the Jerome LDS 10th Ward Chapel, 825 East Avenue B, Jerome, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. , Monday June 20, 2016 , in the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. www.farnsworthmortuary.com
