JEROME

Kenneth Ray Thompson 79, of Jerome, passed away on December 19, 2024 at Ashley Manor in Jerome, just shy of his 80th birthday. He was with his family at the time of his passing.

Ken was born on December 26 ,1944, in Wendell, Idaho, to Roy Thompson and Hattie Rebecca Townsend . Ken grew up and attended school in Jerome, Idaho.

Ken met the love of his life, Jean Ehrmantraut, while attending college in Pocatello. They were married in 1967 and settled in Jerome where they raised their four children.

Ken worked at the Post Office in Jerome for 37 years and farmed 80 acres northwest of Jerome for 48 years. In his free time, he loved going to sporting events for his children and grandchildren. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp whenever he was able to sneak away from the farm. He enjoyed many trips to the Oregon coast over the years. Ken was always full of entertaining stories for everyone.

Ken is survived by Jean, his wife of 57 years, and their four children: Curt Thompson, Julie Lee (Mike), Bobbi Bohrn, and Clint Thompson (Blair). He is also survived by his two brothers, Art and John, and sister, Judy Ellis. Ken had 10 grandchildren he enjoyed chasing around to sporting events, camping, or just being with them on the farm and teaching them all he could.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Hattie Thompson, his brothers Buck and Bill, and sisters, Betty Sue and Mary.

Ken is at peace now after suffering for the past few years with dementia. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to support the Jerome Chapter of FFA.
