Jerome- Kenneth Richard "Dick" Roberts, 87, of Jerome, passed away peacefully at home on Monday January 18, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 9, 1928, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the son of Kenneth Edward Roberts and Ruth Ayleen Parish Roberts. Dick was raised in the Magic Valley and graduated from Eden High School in 1946. He then attended trade school in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied Body and Fender repair. On January 25, 1952, he married Faye Bush in the Jerome First Presbyterian Church. They made their home north of Jerome where they raised three daughters and farmed for 55 years. Dick also spent several years selling real estate and helped put in 10 "First 40" farms in the Hunt area. He served in the Idaho National Guard for three years and also on the Soil Conservation and Senior Citizens Boards. Dick was active in Jerome Lodge 61 A.F. & A.M., and served as Worshipful Master in 1967. He was active in the Jerome First Presbyterian Church and served several terms as a Deacon. He enjoyed square and ballroom dancing, skiing, playing cards, camping, hunting, fishing, making metal art out of junk iron, traveling this great country and enjoyed many Harris Tours trips with Faye. Mostly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Dick is survived by his sweetheart of 64 years, Faye Roberts; their daughters, Kristi Faye (Brian) Jacobs, of Twin Falls, Karla Kay (Mark) Slusser, of Boise, and Kayleen Raye (Gary Phelps), of Twin Falls. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kimber (Darwin) Dudley, Terice Grigg and Richard Gibson; great-grandchildren, Kalise and Jerrica Dudley and Logan and Mackayla Grigg; two siblings, Mark Roberts of Arco and Valdi Parish of Twin Falls; and many extended family members and friends.
Dick's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Hospice Visions for their kind and professional care that allowed Dick to stay in his own home. Dick's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his name to: Shriners Childrens Hospital, Fairfax Road at Virginia St. Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. , Friday January 22, 2016 , in the Jerome First Presbyterian Church, 262 East Avenue A, Jerome, with Rev. Nate Dreesmann officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
