John Sanders

Jerome- John Anthony Sanders, 69, of Jerome, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Winnemucca, Nevada on April 15, 1946 to Louis and Ruby Sanders and raised in Fallon, Nevada. He moved to Wells, Nevada in 1958 and lived there until 1996 when he moved to Jerome, Idaho where he lived until he passed away.

John made many friends in Nevada and Idaho and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children. He was an avid square and round dancer. He loved to read and had a passion for animals. He loved Mustangs and Harleys and loved to travel. He was able to take a final trip last summer to Branson, Missouri with his best friend, Sylvia Hodge and her daughter, Linda.

He is survived by his children, Yvonne Sanders of Hagerman, ID, Wayne Sanders(Sherrie) of Wells, NV and Johnna Bailey of Jerome; step-children, Fred Mathis(Michelle) of Fernley, NV, Jeanie Armstrong of Portland, OR, Bill Mathis(Melody) of Sun Valley, NV and  Tina Mathis of Reno, NV; his brother,  David Sanders(Leslie) of Gooding, ID; sister, Gerrine McLain(James) of Willits, CA; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Bonnie Sanders.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. , Saturday February 20, 2016 , at the American Legion Hall, 107 7th Avenue East, Jerome, with pastor Gene Kissinger officiating.  John's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his name to: Relay for Life of Magic Valley, 2676 S Vista Ave, Boise, ID 83705.  Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome. www.farnsworthmortuary.com
