Johannes "John" Henry Van Yperen passed away peacefully at Arlington Garden care center in Riverside, California on Monday, November 21, 2016, at the age of 86.
John was born in Schiedam So. Holland, Netherlands on November 1, 1930. He was the son of Johannes Jacobus Van der Tuijn and Dina Catherina Johannes Jacoba Van Yperen-Luf. John proudly served in the United States Army, 5th Infantry Division, but always held dear his Dutch heritage. He was a very special person who touched many people during his lifetime. To know him, was to love him. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johannes Van der Tuijn, and his mother, Dina Van Yperen-Luf; sister, Dina De Bruin; and brother-in-law, Gerard De Bruin.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Melba Earlene Critchfield English; and lovingly remembered by his sons, Jeff Van Yperen of St. George, Utah; and George (Heidi) Van Yperen of Logan, Utah; daughters, Dina (Ken) Weiss of Moreno Valley, California; Lisa (Dave) Crandall of Littleton, Colorado; Jaylene (Terry) Bowers of Saratoga Springs, Utah; and Teresa Dean of Gooding, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, "Sophie".
Many thanks to his good friends in Twin Falls, Idaho, Lila Crandall and her family. Special thanks to Dina and Ken Weiss for opening their home and taking care of him in his final days. And to good friend and caregiver "Mimi", and Dave Farnsworth at Farnsworth Mortuary, for helping with all the details when he passed.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Cedron Cemetery, Victor, Idaho.
