Jerome- Hugh Paulsen Roholt, 84, of Jerome, passed away Sunday May 22, 2016, at Ashley manor in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was born December 1, 1931, in Thatcher, Idaho, the youngest of 12 children born to Nels and Freda Roholt. In 1935, the family moved to Jerome where Hugh attended school and worked before joining the United States Navy in 1950. While serving in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Pat, while his ship was in port at Bremerton, Washington. They were married in May of 1954 and settled in Jerome, where they farmed and raised four children. Hugh was a hard working man and spent many back breaking hours with a shovel irrigating acres of crops and in the Fall, harvesting the fruits of his labor.
Summers were very busy on the farm, but every Sunday afternoon, he could be found on the river in Hagerman water-skiing with family and friends. After his wife Pat passed away in 2003, he spent almost every afternoon at his favorite "watering hole" playing pool and catching up on the town happenings until October of 2015, when he became ill.
Hugh is survived by his children; Sylvia (Mitch) Wood of Twin Falls, Tim Roholt of Boise, Penny (David) Galvan of Twin Falls and Holly Roberts of Loveland, CO; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil (Ila) Roholt of Grace, Id; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat, and 10 siblings.
At Hugh's request, there will be no formal services, but this Summer, a celebration of his and Pat's life is being planned in Hagerman to honor his life and love of family and friends.
Hugh's family would like to thank Auburn Crest Hospice and Ashley manor of Twin Falls for their loving care. Each caregiver that came into our father and grandfather's life filled his last days with love and compassion. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome. www.farnsworthmortuary.com
