Hubert Johnson

Hubert K. Johnson passed away May 5, 2019 at St. Luke's in Twin Falls, Idaho. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 605 N. Idaho St. in Wendell, Idaho at 10am with a viewing at 9am.

Hubert was born on September 12, 1944 at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, NV to Archie Hubert Johnson and Lorraine Rozel (Rhodes) Johnson. He graduated from Reno High School and received his BA in German from the University of Nevada. Later in life, he received his teacher credential in California. Hubert worked in several different fields from working on highways, printing, and management. Later in life he became a music teacher, which is where his heart really was. He married Linda Rae Jacox on September 8, 1966 in Carson City, Nevada. As an older teen, he converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Germany. Hubert loved to camp (in a motorhome), family history, reading, and serving anyone in need, but most of all he loved music. He loved to sing and sometimes directed a church choir. He also loved playing musical instruments, especially woodwinds. He mostly played the bassoon (his belching bed post), but also loved the clarinet and several different sizes of saxophones. He played professionally as well as a volunteer. He often enjoyed repairing instruments for his students and grandchildren. He would blame his wife for spoiling the grandchildren, but he was the one who loved to get the perfect gift. Hubert also loved to garden and can or freeze all the extra food. Then they would bring boxes of canned goods and ice chests of frozen foods to their childrens' homes.

Hubert is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Laurie Jensen and husband Sean of California; son, Steven Johnson and wife Carrie of Idaho; son, Hubert James and wife Katie of Arizona; daughter, Cindy Anderson and husband William stationed in England; daughter, Alicia Bunting and husband Micah of Texas; son, Timothy Johnson and wife Jenna of Idaho; and 24 grandchildren who will all be able to be together to celebrate his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Hubert and Lorraine.
