Hazelton- On September 19, 2014, our husband and Dad, Henry Steinmetz, 76, of Hazelton, took his last breath and started his journey to Heaven, with his wife Bobbie at his side holding his hand. They were married for 57 years, which is almost unheard of these days. We would like to give a very special "Thank You" to all who cared for our Dad. The amazing Dr. Klett, the nurses at CRMC, Haylee, Fran and Lenny, and Dr. Dustin, who cared for him on his last visit. His caregivers and friends, Kathy, Nancy and the staff at visions. Also to our good friends, Monte and Barbara Miller and Jack and Caroline Hopwood. Our Dad was a hard working man with a simple life. He farmed most of his life and raised cattle. When the farming and cattle season was over, he was the maintenance man for Lake View and Syringa apartments in Hazelton. That was his favorite job. Henry was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His good friends, Art Baisch and Jack Taylor would come to visit often. They had a lot of good laughs. He really enjoyed company and would always say "Thanks for coming to see me and be careful out there!" We will really miss those words.
Dad had a smile that could warm even the coldest heart. Halloween was one of his favorite times. He had to hang the pumpkin lights so that the doorway would be well lit. He loved to see all of the little kids come in and get a treat.
Hank enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending tractor pulls and the State Fair in Blackfoot. When he could no longer get around and had to be pushed in a wheelchair to get to the bank, he would still smile and laugh and show everyone else he could still catch the biggest and maybe the only fish of the day. Dad was a private man and in his later years, He and Mom took adult Confirmation classes and were baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Eden. He had a great love for his friend and Pastor, Alex Lislow. He was welcomed in to Heaven by his son, Larry, his grandson, Jesse, his brother Neal, and his parents, Henry and Mollie. He left behind his wife, Bobbie, their children, Kathy Kent, Judy and Carrie and their families all of Hazelton; Jeff (Cina), Ronnie and families of Pingree; Rick (Shari), Terry and Carol, and families of Homedale; Jalynn (Todd) and family of Boise; Brian (Dawn) and family of Washington. His brothers, Ruben, Albert "Honey" (Kathy) and John (Dorothy) Shobe; and his sister, Irene Bertie. And last but certainly not least, 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. They were his favorites. He loved his family very much. We Thank God for sharing such a special man with us for this short time. "Thank you Mom and Dad!" Because of your love and example we are the people we are today. Memorial services will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
