Heidi Cartisser

January 27, 1973 — December 19, 2017

Heidi Ann Prindle Cartisser, 44, a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, coach and friend, passed away in her sleep December 19, 2017 at home in Jerome, Idaho.

Heidi was born January 27, 1973 in Boise, Idaho to Rob and Cheryl Prindle, their first daughter. She was a good student and stellar athlete, played volleyball, basketball and softball in high school. Her true passion was volleyball, for which she went on to play at the collegiate level. She started her junior college career at The College of Southern Idaho (CSI), then was recruited to Albertson College of Idaho (ACI) to finish her last two years. She was the setter, which means she was a major leader on and off the court, and continued to be a leader throughout her life. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Education from ACI in 1995, and was working on her Masters of Athletic Administration which she planned to complete Spring 2019.

Heidi began her career coaching volleyball at Treasure Valley Community College after graduation, was there for 5 seasons and helped to re-shape their program. She met her sweetheart, Jim Cartisser, on a recruiting trip in 1997; they were married in 1998. Their first son, Cody, was born December 1998. They were sealed as a family for time and all eternity in 2000 in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple.

She took a job to coach at Chicago State University in 2000, meaning she had to leave home and family for a little while. She was expecting baby boy number two, Canyon, who was born August 2000 just as the volleyball season started. While in Chicago they made new friends and memories, learned different cultures, and Heidi again helped turn around a struggling volleyball program. They welcomed their third son, Cason, September 2002. They were able to move home in 2004 while expecting their first daughter, Cailey, who was born July 2005.

In 2006, Heidi received an awesome opportunity when the head coach position opened up at one of her alma maters, CSI. She continued to excel in producing quality volleyball programs. Their last child, another girl, Carli, was born March 2008. During her CSI tenure, Heidi led teams to multiple conference and regional championships, and they won 3 national championship titles, and this season were runner-ups at nationals. She was awarded several coach of the year titles, showing her dedication to her teams and the sport she loved so much. She was not only a coach of the game, but a mentor to all her players, and many others she came in contact with.

Heidi was a devoted wife and mother, and always supported her extended family as well. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was very involved in church and community service. She was an amazing role model to so many. She loved making t-shirt quilts, scrapbooking and crafting. Heidi will be deeply missed by her family, her volleyball family, and the community. We are grateful to know that families are forever.

She is survived by her husband Jim and 5 children, Cody, Canyon, Cason, Cailey, Carli; her parents, Rob and Cheryl Prindle; brother, Curt Prindle; and sister, Kimra Combe; and many extended family members.
