Jerome- It is with so much love and very fond memories that we remember and celebrate the life of Geraldine Margaret Boll, age 91, who passed on August 10, 2015. She was born on September 6, 1923 in Wendell, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Eugene and Anna Rehm. She was one of 10 children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
She was the mother of three children, Karen (and Jim Essner) of Califonia, Dale (and Susan Boll) of Jerome and Clinton who also precedes her in death. She was the grandmother of eleven grandchildren and great-grandmother of ninteen great-grand kids. She and her husband, John, were aunt and uncle to over eighty nieces and nephews. She was loved by all. She was called Gerry, Aunt Sis, GG and friend by all who knew her. She had a full life and was, herself, full of life. Always with a smile and kind word and a wicked sense of humor. She was a sharp card player and loved Jackpot. She and John were married over 50 years and they wore their original wedding clothes for their 50th anniversary celebration. They were the glue that held both families together with their pictures, letters, 8 mm movie film catalogue and constant family connections. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Raised in the Dakota's, she was courted by John after he saw her swinging by her knees from a branch of an apple tree. John's older brother married Geraldine's sister. Mom always said that "Harry got such a good one, that he told John "he should go get another one of those Rehm girls." Dad always said that "Harry didn't warn him." That is how we ended up with four double cousins.
They married in California on June 4, 1942. John was in the service so all the kids were born in different states. Gerry followed him everywhere he was stationed. They had a grocery store in Hankinson, ND, but moved to Hawthorne,CA in 1953 to take over a grocery store operation from Gerry's folks. They lived there until they moved to Silverton, OR, where they, (what else?) bought a grocery store and gas station. It was everyone's delight to get a piece of candy from the candy case. After 20 years, in 1992, they made their way to Jerome, ID to be closer to family and make a better life for Clinton, who was handicapped. It was the best move they ever made. They have long been involved with the Senior Citizen's Center of Jerome.
They have a loving family who have cared for and helped them through all their elder years. Her son, Dale, has been her unselfish care-giver and Gerry died in her home with her loving family at her side. We will be having a service for Geraldine on
Wednesday, August 19th at 2pm
in Trinity Hall at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 216 2nd Avenue East, Jerome. Next Spring, the family will have a graveside service for both Geraldine and Clinton Boll in Fairmont, ND.
