TWIN FALLS - Gary Swainston, 69, of Twin Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in Twin Falls.
He was born July 8, 1945, in Hailey, Idaho, the son of Albert Ross Swainston and Ruth Ellen Sweat Swainston. Gary was raised in Richfield and attended schools there. After high school, he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to Idaho. Gary’s working years were spent in a variety of occupations. He worked at the cheese plant in Richfield, worked construction and also spent 23 years at Blue Lakes Trout Farm. After the trout farm closed, he went to work at the Northside Canal Co., where he spent 10 years and made many friends. Gary loved camping, fishing, sitting in his recliner and sleeping, and especially spoiling his grandkids.
He is survived by his sweetheart of 29 years, Carol “Lovey” Swainston of Twin Falls; their children, Todd (Jandy) Swainston, Tina (Jeff) Gentry, Troy Swainston, Robyn (Jama) Swainston, Tim (Carly) Stadelmeir, Nathan Swainston and Carrie (Tim) Wiltsie; 19 grandchildren; his mother, Ruth Swainston; his brother, Ross (Nancy) Swainston; his sister, Rhonda (Don) Setser; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln in Jerome. A visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment with military honors will follow in the Richfield Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Richfield LDS Church immediately following the graveside service.
