Frank Milton Hanny, 73, peacefully passed away at his home in Alliance, Nebraska on January 20, 2025. He was born on May 5, 1951 to Grant Franklin Hanny and Edith Elaine Cook Hanny in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the third of five children.
Frank grew up in the Firth, Idaho area and graduated from Firth High School in 1969. Frank loved everything agriculture and mechanical. He was a member of the Firth High School Future Farmers of America Chapter. Frank continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he took flying lessons and gained his pilot’s license. Frank’s love of flying was now born and lasted through his entire life. Frank owned his own Cessna 172 and loved giving rides to anyone that would dare be a passenger.
Frank was exceptionally skilled in mechanics and also was proud to own his own trucking company, Frank Hanny Trucking that was based out of Rupert, Idaho. He could fix just about anything on a truck and get it back up and running in no time. During this time in his life, Frank made many life-long friends in the farming, trucking and aviation communities.
Frank married Sheila Harmon. They were blessed with two daughters, Leslie Ann and Juliana Maree. They later divorced and Frank then married Pam Bowman. They were blessed with Jason Alexander and Ashley Megan. They also later divorced.
Frank moved to Alliance, Nebraska in the early 2000’s and made that area his home. He made everyone he met there a friend and always tried to leave any situation better than he found it. He had a knack for always making others smile with his wicked sense of humor. He loved living there and taking as many trips as he could fit in a year back to Idaho to visit family and friends. The highlight of every year for him was his family camping trip spent with his children and grandchildren in Stanley, Idaho. Frank was always busy working on something but would finally slow down during those camp trips. Frank could often be found snoozing in his favorite camp chair around the campfire after grilling up his famously enormous steaks he would bring for his whole family every year. Many of his children’s favorite memories are wrapped up in those annual camping trips. His granddaughters brought him so much joy in his later years.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Grant Hanny; mother, Elaine Hanny; sister, Annajill Hanny; sister-in-law, Bethea Hanny; and brother-in-law, Carlan Mullen.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Leslie Wood (Jason); daughter, Juliana “Juice” Baxter (Jacob); son, Jason Hanny (Kim); and Ashley Hanny (Danny); granddaughters, Abagail Hanny, Kynzley Hanny and a granddaughter on the way; sister, Joyce Mullen; sister, Margaret Fielding (DeLynn); brother, Merrill Hanny; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

His children would like to thank those that loved our Dad as we did throughout his life. It’s time to take your work boots off now Dad and finally rest. In true Frank fashion as he would end every phone call with his kids…”Love you bye”
