Ethel Mae Piland, 85, of Jerome passed away Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Creekside Assisted Living, Jerome.
Ethel was born on September 10, 1932 in Macksville, Kanses to Charles C. and LaVera M. Seal Barker. Ethel had one older sibling Verda Kent. Ethel grew up and attend school in Kansas. At the age of 16 she married Melvin Drake. To this union brought four children, Douglas, Craig, Jillet, and Mark. Melvin and Ethel Latter divorced and Ethel made the move with her children to Idaho, settling in Jerome. Ethel met the love of her life here and married Rosco Piland. Ethel and Rosco were blessed to add to their family with the birth of Robert.
Ethel worked hard in many aspects of her life including going on to obtain her GED form the College of Southern Idaho. She worked for many years in several different capacities such as milking cows, working at Tupperware and also the Green Giant.
Ethel loved being apart of the community as she attended Amazing Grave Fellowship, and was a member of the Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, photography and anything historical.
Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Rosco; parents, Charles and Lavera; her two sons, Douglas and Craig; and her sister Verda.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Janeth) Piland, of Jerome; Mark Drake of Elko NV; Daughter, Jillet (John) Harley of Jerome; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Viewing will be held one hour prier to services.
