Jerome- Ellen Kaye Thomason, 61, of Jerome, passed away at her home on Thursday August 20, 2015. She was born September 15, 1953, in Jerome, Idaho, the daughter of Rex B. Thomason and Lucile Garner Thomason. Ellen Kaye was raised in Jerome where she worked and helped on the family farm until graduating from Jerome High School in 1971. She attended CSI and studied secretarial training then went to work at Tupperware until it closed in 1988. She returned to CSI to continue her studies and then went to work at the Times-News for the next 26 years where she leant an understanding ear to people submitting obituaries and worked as a news clerk helping the reporters. Ellen Kaye was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings. She spent many years as the Primary pianist and also served as editor of the ward newsletter and bulletin. Ellen Kaye was a skilled seamstress and she loved reading, making gifts and hosting parties. She baked excellent banana bread and enjoyed sharing it with others.
Ellen Kaye is survived by her mother, Lucile Thomason of Jerome; her brother, David (Jill) Thomason of Syracuse, UT; four nieces, Natalee, Marin, Audree and Kaitlin; and many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her father and her brother, Rex.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM , Saturday August 29, 2015, in the Jerome LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 50 East 100 South, Jerome, with Bishop Davis Suitter officiating. A visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon . Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome. www.farnsworthmortuary.com
