Elaine Gecolia Brownlee Henson, 80, of Richfield, Idaho was born December 27, 1941 in Wendell, Idaho. She went back to Heaven on June 22, 2022 with her loving family surrounding her. She is the oldest of five children born to Victor Brownlee and LeaEtta (Nelson) Rogers. She was born a month early on a cold, blizzard day at her grandparents’ house. Due to the severe weather, her dad had to wait on the icy roads so he could guide the doctor to the house.
She married her sweetheart, James Ray Henson, on August 8, 1959 in Gooding, Idaho and their union was sealed in the Los Angeles Temple for time and all eternity on February 14, 1970. With this union came one of the largest families that Richfield, Idaho has ever seen. Her family and friends will love her and will miss her dearly.
Anyone who knew this great lady could tell you countless stories (most of them would embarrass her). She would be described as shy, loving, caring, compassionate, affectionate, passionate, wonderful, positive, supportive, and always smiling. Anyone who met her loved her, and no one could tell you anything negative about her, she always found the positivity in everything; even with her last few minutes on Earth she made the decision to be with her Heavenly Father again, so that her family didn’t have to be burdened with that decision.
Her smile could light up the room, she always had time for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren she never made any of us feel like we weren’t welcomed or that we were a bother to her. She accepted everyone as her own family.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings within in the church, with one of her greatest callings being a temple worker in the Twin Falls, ID Temple. She had a strong testimony that she lived by every day, you could see how strong her testimony was just by being in her presence. With her strong testimony she was not afraid of dying, she was afraid of leaving her earthly family. She was the matriarch of the family for so many years that she didn’t want to give up that title. She is not and will not lose that title as she is getting Heaven ready for all of us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor (Bert) Brownlee and LeaEtta (Norman) Rogers; three siblings; and her oldest son, Justin (Lorri) Henson.
She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, James “Jay” Ray Henson; four children, Mitch (Rufina) Henson; Laurie (Dan) Buckner; Kelly (Rachel) Henson; and Kimberly Henson; one brother, Gordon Rogers; 18 Grandkids; 49 Great grandkids, with four on the way; and four great great grandkids.
“You were like my mother, you were my best friend, you were everything I want to be, all the good inside of me there’s never been, never been another that loved me like you did.
My Grandmother, My angel.
Even though I can’t touch your face I feel you with me every day, I wish you could see all my dreams coming true; when I get lost, I close my eyes and I feel you shining down so bright I feel you shining down on me.
My grandmother, My Angel”
