Edward Louis "Eddy" Phillips, 90, of Jerome, passed away Monday December 1, 2014 in Jerome.
He was born January 21, 1924, in Valier, Montana, the son of Louis Phillips and Blanche Ruth Hartwell Phillips. Eddy married Betty Jane Fowler on August 9, 1942. From this union was born three children; Beverly, Clarence and Vernon.
Eddy served his country in the US Army and US Marine Reserves. He served during WWII from 1943 to 1946 in the 8 th Armor in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He continued in the Marine Reserves until honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1950.
Eddy worked and retired from Peter Kiewit Sons after more than 30 years. He worked on various road construction projects in the Western United States. He also worked at Northside Canal Company for three years. Upon retiring, Eddy farmed west of Jerome. He and Betty enjoyed boating, fishing and spending the winters in Arizona. Eddy also enjoyed working at Magic Valley Speedway after retirement as a hobby.
Eddy was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his children; Beverly (Lenny) Meyers of Jerome, Clarence (Sally) Phillips and Vernon (Karen) Philips, all of Boise; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Louise Wheeler of Montana and his brother Lyle Phillips of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 , at Farnsworth Mortuary Chapel, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM . Interment with military honors will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
