Jerome- Edmund J. "Ed" Craythorn, 79, of Jerome, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday May 15, 2015. He was born January 23, 1936, in Emerson, Idaho, the son of Irvin Bybee Craythorn and Agnes Leona Moore Craythorn. Ed was raised in Springdale and graduated from Declo High School. He met Effie Posey and they were married September 6, 1957. They made their home in Springdale and eventually settled in Jerome where they raised five children. Most of Ed's working years were spent farming. He also worked at Ida-Gem Creamery, Independent Meat and Volco. Ed loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He especially loved cutting and splitting firewood and square dancing with his sweetheart, Effie. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ed will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Effie; four children, Daryl Craythorn (Lori Saez) of Twin Falls, Darla (John) Clemans of Boise, Rebecca (Tommy) Briggs of Jerome, and James Craythorn of Jerome. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; his sister Lorraine, and his brothers Kenneth, Bill and Earl; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Craythorn; his grandson Joshua Craythorn; his parents; two sisters, Barbara and Nadine; and one brother, David.
A visitation will be held Tuesday May 19, 2015 , at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 PM.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM , Wednesday May 20, 2015 , in the Jerome LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 825 East Avenue B, Jerome, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.
