Dean Malaperdas

It is with great sadness that we announce Dean Malaperdas passed away at the age of 83 in his home peacefully, on November 17, 2024.

Dean was born on September 4, 1941, in California, and at the age of two the family moved to McGill “Greek Town “, where he lived until he graduated and joined the National Guard where he served many years. During this time, he met his wife of 60 years, Georgene. The two made their home in Ely and resided there until he retired and the moved to Idaho.

Dean worked for the county road department, Kennicott Copper, and United Parcel Service from which he retired after twenty-eight years of service.

Anyone that knew Dean knew his love and appreciation of old cars. Dean loved going to car shows, meeting new people, and catching up with old friends. They also enjoyed spending winters in Yuma and fishing and camping in Stanley with old friends. Dean always had a story to tell!

Most of all Dean loved spending time with his family. Dean and Georgene had two daughters Kris (Jody) and Deana (Joe), four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews that he loved very much. 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophie; brother, Stan (Butch); and two sisters, Georgia and Mary.

There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers the family ask that a memorial donation in Dean’s name be made to your favorite charity.
