David Jay Markus was born in 1962, in Anaheim, California, and passed away in 2025. He graduated from Valley Christian High School in Cerritos, California, and spent much of his adult life in both California and Idaho.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Kathy Markus (née Petruzzelli), a devoted wife whose care and commitment never wavered; his three sons, David "DJ" Markus (Sarah), Jacob Markus (Della), and Aaron Markus; and ten cherished grandchildren. His mother, Marilyn Markus, and sister, Jill Nogales (Dan) also survive him. He was preceded in death by his father, Orval Markus.
David found purpose and fulfillment in his work in law enforcement. He served as a police officer in Chino, California, and later in Jerome, Idaho, where he worked as a School Resource Officer with his K9 partner, Max. He later continued his career as a Probation Officer and Investigator for Jerome County. His work gave him a strong sense of duty, and he valued the opportunities he had to serve.
Some of David’s favorite memories were made outdoors. He especially loved camping in the Sawtooth Mountains, boating, and riding ATVs with his family. These trips became a meaningful tradition and were often where he seemed most at ease - surrounded by nature and sharing time with those closest to him.
David’s family will be holding a private memorial at one of his favorite places to camp, remembering him in a setting that brought him peace, reflecting on the chapters of his life that brought connection, tradition, and time spent under open skies.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on David’s memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
