Cole Stubbert Prestwich

September 6, 1948 — January 7, 2025

TWIN FALLS

On January 7, 2025, Cole passed away at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones.

Cole was born on September 6, 1948, to Calvin and Lola Prestwich in Delta, Utah, and was the oldest of four children. He was raised in the mining town of Ruth, Nevada, and graduated from White Pine High School.

After high school, he followed his parents to Wendell, Idaho, where his father had purchased a farm. He left to serve in the Alaskan Canadian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after which he returned to Wendell. It was in Wendell that Cole met the love of his life, Karen Jenks. Cole married Karen on August 29, 1972, and together they welcomed five children, four sons and one daughter, to their family.

After moving to Wendell, Cole began his career in trucking, initially hauling ten-gallon cans of milk before transitioning to long haul trucking. In 1979 he bought his own truck and founded Prestwich Trucking and was proud to be able to pass his trucking legacy on to his family. After logging millions of miles behind the wheel he worked for Arlo G. Lott Trucking as the Safety Director from 1999 to 2018 where he received the Safety Director of the Year four times. He also was engaged with the Idaho Truck Driving Championships and continued to work in different aspects of the trucking industry whenever there was an opportunity. After retiring as Safety Director, Cole and his wife served on an LDS Mission in Lubbock, Texas.

Cole always said he had “stuff to do” and didn’t like to slow down; he loved staying busy and being on the go. He truly enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and anyone with the same fondness for conversation. He found joy in learning about the lives of those around him and was a natural storyteller who loved sharing and hearing tales. No matter the situation, Cole always took the time to make people feel valued and share his experiences. His genuine, kind-hearted nature left lasting impressions on everyone he met, and no matter where he went, someone always had a story or kind words to say about Cole; and if there was a trucking question many would say “just call Cole”.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Prestwich; his children, Kelsey (Juanita) Prestwich, Kertus (Crystal) Prestwich, Kasey (Janice) Prestwich, Caylee (Jon) Svedin, and Kortney (Cally) Prestwich; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his siblings, Connie Rae Walker, Paul (Linda) Prestwich, and Patti (Clark) Anderson; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Fay Jenks. He is also survived by 11 brothers-in-law; 9 sisters-in law; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other beloved extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lola Prestwich; his brother-in-law, Robert Walker; and his granddaughters, McKenzie and Vanessa Svedin.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with a viewing beginning at 9:30 am, Monday, January 13, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 824 Caswell Ave W, Twin Falls, Idaho. Graveside service will conclude at the Wendell Cemetery.
