Bonnie McDowell

November 12, 1943 — February 23, 2024

JEROME

Bonnie lost her battle with brain cancer on February 23, 2024.  She was born November 12, 1943, in Twin Falls, Idaho to Vera N. Goodman and John P Simpson.

Bonnie married her high school sweetheart, Don McDowell, in 1961. They had three children: Mitch, Ross, and Heather.

Bonnie was a great role model to all who knew her, especially her children.  She volunteered at the local schools, reading with the kids.  She also helped at the local soup kitchen.  Bonnie was an active member of the Jerome First Presbyterian Church, holding various positions.  She had many friends at church, her exercise classes at the Jerome Recreation Center, Twin Falls High school classmates, the CSI travel group, and her cardmaking group.

Bonnie traveled the world and made friends along the way.  She enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening.  She was an accomplished pianist, teaching lessons over the years.

Bonnie’s grandkids were very special to her.  She had Andy, Sara and David and five step grandsons: Greg, Chris, Michael, John and Ty.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Ross; her mother, father and a brother.

She is survived by her son, Mitch (Jennifer) McDowell of Jerome; daughter, Heather (Ryan) Parton of Gannett; sister, Dixie (John) Farnsworth of Bend, Oregon; brother, Scot Young of Pocatello, Idaho; and sister, Carmen Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Bonnie was loved and cared for in her final months by her family and the ladies from Caring 4 U.  Idaho Home Health & Hospice made sure Bonnie was comfortable and guided the family through this.

A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday March 2, 2024, at the Jerome First Presbyterian, 262 E Ave A, Jerome.
