Betty Lage

Betty Leora Lage of Wendell saw her Savior and Lord Jesus, Wednesday April 4, 2018 at 10:47pm after a long illness. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Betty was born, Aril 26, 1938 to Richard “Dick” and Leora Shindeldecker in Gooding, Idaho. She and her parents lived in Gooding where she attended school and at the age of 16 she met and married her first husband who was in the US Air Force. A year later they moved to Okinawa Japan and returned to Gooding several years later. Later they moved to Boise until the marriage ended. She then moved to Wendell to be close to her parents. In November of 1972 she married Herbert “Herb” J. Lage and they remained there on Wendell St until 1978 when they moved to Anchorage, AK. In August of 1993 they returned to their home in Wendell.

Betty was an active member of Jerome Bible Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until 2012. She loved to cook and was always trying new recipes. She loved to support the youth group by buying more cakes than she could possibly eat. She and Herb were active supporters and members of the American Legion Posts in Anchorage, AK and Wendell. For many years she sold Avon products and until she retired at the age of 72 she happily worked at Simerly’s in Wendell. Her favorite saying was, “Can’t couldn’t because can’t never tried” and “family takes care of family.” She believed you could do anything you were willing to put your mind to and she put that belief to the test all the time.

Betty had five sons, three daughters and more than 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Her husband Herb and sons Randy and Dennis preceded her in death. She is survived by sons, Darrell Lage of Jerome, ID, Daniel Lage of Arizona and Timothy Lage of Henderson, NV; and daughters, Karen Woods, Marji Iverson and Patti McGee all of Hagerman.

Her going Home Celebration will be held at Jerome Bible Baptist church, 132 2 ^nd Ave E, Jerome ID, Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest in the Hagerman Cemetery. Family and friends may say their goodbyes Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 1 to 5 pm at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome.
