Barbara June (Stauffer) Weigle of Jerome, Idaho passed away May 6, 2024. She was born June 18, 1933 to William and Lida (Hill) Stauffer in Arco, Idaho, during the depression. Her father traded a load of wheat to pay the hospital bill.
Her family eventually moved to Jerome where she graduated from Jerome High School in 1951. Barbara then attended Twin Falls Business College where she pursued her degree in secretarial studies. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Leroy Weigle, in 1953. They lived in the same house and farmed northwest of Jerome for 70 years.
Barbara loved to cook and host the boys’ sports teams including football, wrestling, track, and baseball, as well as many family gatherings. She enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. Barbara also enjoyed quilting, knitting and reading. She led numerous Red Cross Blood Drives in Jerome for many years. Barbara was a faithful member of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she enjoyed serving in many different callings over the years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lida Stauffer; sister, Jeanne (Gary) Drown; brothers, Jim and Denny Stauffer; husband, Leroy; and son, Jeff Weigle.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Pam) Weigle of Willard, UT; and Kay (Ed) Cornforth of Caldwell, ID; brother, Bill (Patty) Stauffer of Howe, ID; sister-in-law, Jeanne Brooks of Jerome, ID; and sister-in-law, Anne Kennedy Cox of Boise, ID. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Jerome Cemetery.
She will be greatly missed.
